Warming trend continues, cooler by next week

A ridge of building high pressure will continue to send temperatures above the seasonal average (107°) through Tuesday. Temperatures are expected to exceed 115° during this time.

The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for the Coachella Valley from 10 a.m. Monday until 8 p.m. Tuesday due to the potentially dangerous heat.

Cooler temperatures will return by the middle of the work week as a trough of low pressure and monsoonal moisture moves in. This trough will allow temperatures to sink into the low 100s and increase thunderstorm chances near the end of the week. At this time, Friday looks to be the best opportunity for thunderstorm activity.
