Seasonal August Heat Returns this Week

We're starting the week with fairly normal August heat, but temperatures will gradually climb just a tiny bit more over the next few days as high pressure builds in from the east. Highs will hover near 110 today before warming a few more degrees by Wednesday and Thursday, putting us several degrees above our seasonal average of 108.

Humidity will also begin creeping back into the Valley later this week, and when combined with warmer-than-normal overnight lows, will push HeatRisk into the moderate to locally major category.

Monsoonal moisture begins to make a return Thursday through the weekend, bringing a small chance for afternoon and evening thunderstorms over the mountains—and potentially a few storms drifting into the desert as well. But that's still several days out.

Temperatures may ease slightly heading into the weekend as high pressure weakens, but don't expect a ton of relief, with highs staying near or above seasonal averages into early next week.
