Hot & Muggy through Friday

The heat and humidity remain the big weather story across the Coachella Valley, with highs near 110 today—several degrees above our seasonal 108 degrees. The valley itself continues to remain a part of the Extreme Heat Warning until 8pm Friday.

Monsoonal moisture will keep things muggy, along with a slight chance for afternoon thunderstorms over the mountains--possibly an isolated storm into the desert. These storms could produce heavy rain and gusty winds. Our biggest impact locally is that these highs are misleading with humidity making temps feel 10-15 degrees hotter than it actually is.

We should see a little drying into the weekend, helping bring humidity down some, but temperatures won't change much through the weekend. Overnight lows will also remain unusually warm, offering very minor relief from our daytime heat.

Monsoonal moisture may creep back in early next week, while temperatures stay near average around 107-109 degrees.
