Cooldown Continues into Labor Day Weekend

The comfortable stretch continues across the Coachella Valley, with highs running below average through Labor Day weekend and temperatures staying in the low 100s--if not upper 90s-- through Monday.

Thankfully, we're also hanging onto some drier air for another day or so, although breezy west to southwest winds pick up in the afternoon and evenings--mainly near the passes.

I'm keeping a close eye on Hurricane Marie, which is expected to remain well SW of Southern California—so no direct impacts—but tropical moisture is expected to start working its way back into the region this weekend. Clouds increase Saturday, with our best chance for showers arriving Saturday night into Sunday, along with a slight chance for thunderstorms across the mountains, deserts and even some inland valleys Sunday afternoon. There’s still quite a bit of uncertainty over exact timing and movement, but Sunday is definitely the day we’ll be watching the closest for indirect impacts.

The added clouds and tropical moisture should keep daytime temperatures near to below average into early next week, though high temps will be a couple of degrees warmer next week, compared to this week.
