Major HeatRisk Lingers: Hot & Muggy Before Cooldown Next Week

Happy Wednesday! It's another hot and humid day across the Coachella Valley, with highs climbing near 105–110 degrees and Major to Extreme HeatRisk expected through Friday.

Tropical moisture still remains in place, bringing another round of isolated to scattered thunderstorms over the mountains, with a lingering potential for stronger storms capable of producing brief quick downpours, localized flooding and gusty winds.

A minor cooling trend begins this weekend as high pressure starts to weaken, although the humidity will be stubborn and Major HeatRisk could linger across the lower desert through at least Friday.

More noticeable relief arrives next week as a trough pushes our heat and tropical moisture out of the area. That trough will likely bring some breezy afternoon and evening winds as well.

By Sunday into early next week, highs could actually fall below average, down to the mid to upper 90s, giving the Valley a nice little break both the heat and humidity.
