Decreasing storms tonight; drier air arrives Wednesday

While our air quality is significantly better than yesterday, there is still some progress to be made. Just about the entire region is reporting 'moderate' air quality as a result of the sand and dust in the air from yesterday morning's haboob.

Showers and storms are occurring over the mountains and high desert this afternoon. However, this evening will begin a gradual drying trend which will continue for the rest of the week. Our chances for storms drastically decrease for Wednesday.

The large ridge of high pressure over the southwest has shifted quite a bit to the east. This will allow for dry air to make its way back into the valley over the coming days.

As we start to dry out, a gradual warming trend will join in. Seasonable temperatures are forecast for the next two days before 110°+ highs return for the weekend.
