Tracking air quality concerns and slight warming heading into the weekend

The Coachella Valley remains under an Air Quality Alert through 6AM Friday morning. This alert is specifically for the risk of windblown dust.

As gusty conditions continue this evening, we are tracking visibility and air quality concerns. Similar to the past few days, gusts will strengthen throughout the afternoon and into the evening. The strongest gusts will be in the usual wind-prone areas like the I-10 corridor.

The next few days here in the desert will be very seasonable. We don't have a super active upper-atmospheric pattern. As a result, temperatures will be near normal this weekend.

We are in the midst of a slight warming trend heading into the weekend. Temperatures will peak just above 100°F this weekend. As we head into next week, however, we can expect temperatures to decrease slightly and bring in daily highs below average.
