Breezy and dry conditions increase fire risks this weekend

Santa Ana Winds, which will elevate dry conditions this weekend, are expected to strengthen this morning. The National Weather Service has issued Wind Advisories from San Bernardino County south into Imperial County with sustained gusts that could reach 35-50 MPH and isolated gusts near 60 mph in wind prone areas like the San Gorgonio Pass.

The Coachella Valley is not under any Wind Advisories currently, still, Santa Ana Winds will remain a factor in our forecast. Breezy winds between 20-25 mph are expected on the valley floor through Sunday morning.

A Red Flag Warning goes into effect this morning for Western Riverside County. This weekend's windy and low relative humidity elevates the risk for fires in the area. Outdoor activities like grilling or bonfires are not recommended at this time.

Saturday will be the coolest day of the week before a warming trend begins. Temperatures will remain in the mid-70s through the work week before they drop back into the 60s by next weekend.
