Warm December weekend followed by increasing rain chances

It's been a warmer-than-normal December so far, and a ridge of high pressure will keep the warm streak going for the weekend, with high temperatures in the upper 70s and even low 80s for some. An average high for Palm Springs this time of year is 69°.

The first system of the week will move into the West Coast late Sunday night and early Monday. While it will bring some rain to California, the southern end of the state will have minimal impact. Rain chances increase with system number two.

Wetter-than-normal conditions continue to trend upward for the middle to latter half of next week. Currently, Wednesday through Friday are the days that look the most promising for rainfall accumulation in the Coachella Valley.

While it's too soon to give exact timing and impacts, Thursday and Friday look to favor the higher rainfall totals that could impact travel, around half an inch. This forecast can change as the event gets closer. The First Alert Weather Team will keep you updated!
