Tracking stronger winds and a chance for rain

An area of low pressure is continuing to move toward California. It will begin to move through the state on Wednesday, bringing another increase to our winds as well as a slight chance for some showers.

The vast majority of the wet weather will be to our west. However, showers here on the valley floor cannot be ruled out. As well, there is a chance for a stray cell to move through the pass or over the mountains. If this happens, some places may see higher accumulations. Overall less than a tenth of an inch is expected.

We will also see another boost to our winds. They won't be as strong as this weekend, but gusts between 25 and 35 MPH are possible.

A Winter Weather Advisory has also been issued for our local mountains. It will mainly impact areas above 5,000 feet. Snow is the main threat. Some snow is possible between 5,000 and 6,000 feet, but the highest accumulations will be above 8,000 feet.

Temperatures will briefly fall into the lower 70s through midweek, before rising back into the upper 70s for the weekend.
