Calmer winds and warmer temperatures in store for the weekend

A First Alert Weather Alert remains has been allowed to expire as winds begin to calm here on the valley floor.

We have already felt some strong gusts. Whitewater is taking the lead with a gust of 65 MPH. Thermal and Desert Hot Springs both have seen wind gusts exceeding 50 MPH while Palm Springs and Cathedral City have seen wind gusts of 40 MPH or greater.

All weather advisories in or around the valley have been allowed to expire by the National Weather Service.

Calmer winds will be with us on Saturday. Although some occasional breezes are possible.

Cooler than average temperatures remain with us through early next week. Temperatures will gradually warm beginning tomorrow, with 80s expected by Tuesday and potentially highs in the 90s for the end of next week.
