Tracking another system on the horizon

Good afternoon. It is still mild and cool here in the Coachella Valley. While the cool weather will stick around for a few more days, the mild weather will not. We are tracking yet another system on the move, which will impact the Coachella Valley later this week. Some clouds and moisture will start to move in tonight and early tomorrow, but more of the wet weather will move into the area Thursday afternoon. Most of the precipitation will impact us on Friday.

A First Alert Weather Alert will be in place for Thursday evening through Friday evening.

While rain is expected here on the valley floor, above 6,500 feet, more wintry weather is expected. A Winter Storm Watch has been issued, and will likely be upgraded to a warning as the system nears. Several inches of snow are expected above this elevation, with more than a foot expected for the mountain tops. Expect some travel difficulties in both the San Bernardino and Riverside County mountains.

As mentioned before, a First Alert Weather Alert will be in place for Thursday and Friday as we track the impacts of this incoming system. We gradually start to clear out and warm up as we move through the weekend and into next week.
