Warm weather continues all week

We are continuing to track very warm weather this week. A large and persistent ridge of high pressure has settled itself over much of the western US. This ridge has pushed the jet stream far to the north. This is keeping all the active weather up into the Pacific Northwest, leaving benign, dry, and warm weather here in the Golden State. The high pressure setup will allow for some light offshore winds across Southern California, but they will not be overly strong.

This ridge is quite stubborn and will be dominating our weather pattern for the foreseeable future. Our average high temperature for this time of year is 70°F. We are tracking highs significantly above the average, in the 80s, well into this weekend and next week.

Temperatures will continue to gradually climb into the middle of the week thanks to the high pressure. Highs fall a few degrees this weekend back into the low 80s. However, these numbers are still more than 10°F warmer than normal.
