Tracking more warm weather this week

Spencer Blum

This week continues to be unusually warm here in the Coachella Valley. This comes as a result of high pressure dominating the region. The high pressure is also maintaining the offshore pressure gradient. This gradient is responsible for the offshore wind pattern, keeping us nice and dry. Thankfully, the winds have calmed down and are mild in most places.

This temperature trend will continue into this weekend. The large ridge of high pressure will start to move to the northwest, eventually forming a blocking pattern. This will keep us dry and warm through the weekend and into next week. Interestingly, the high pressure is playing a role in the below-normal temperatures being felt by many in the eastern part of the country.

As mentioned before, expect sunny, warm, and dry weather for the foreseeable future. Afternoon temperatures will remain near 80° through the weekend. Highs may dip slightly into next week.
