Warm, mild weather in the Coachella Valley continues

Spencer Blum

It's another gorgeous day here in the valley! Our temperatures continue to reach numbers far above the seasonal norm, with highs in the mid-upper 80s. The pressure systems around Southern California are preparing for a bit of a shift. This will result in an increase in offshore winds, leading the National Weather Service to issue a number of Wind Advisories. This does include the San Gorgonio Pass and Desert Hot Springs, but the valley floor remains excluded. The advisory for Riverside County will be in effect from 4 AM Wednesday through 12 PM Thursday.

The ridge of high pressure is in the middle of expanding its reach. There is also a small cutoff area of low pressure to our south which is on the move. These systems will give us the elevated offshore winds. By Thursday, the systems will be oriented in such a way that they will bring upper-level moisture up from the south, leading to an increase in cloudiness.

Overall, the weather is mild and fair for the rest of the week, with some extra cloud cover to close out the workweek. Highs will cool off a little bit, but still stay above average for the end of the week. Details are still hazy, but we are tracking the potential for a more powerful low-pressure system next week that COULD have the potential for some rainfall for Southern California.
