I-10 temporarily shut down after fuel tanker truck explodes east of Desert Center

Both sides of Interstate 10 were temporarily shut down just east of Desert Center after a fuel tanker truck exploded, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident was reported at 5:19 p.m. on the eastbound Interstate 10 east of the Corn Springs

According to CAL FIRE, a 20,000-gallon fuel tanker truck caught on fire in a construction storage area. Multiple commercial vehicles and two storage containers also burned.

The eastbound and westbound lanes around the area were closed. Lanes on both sides were back open by 6:50 p.m.

There's no word on what caused the explosion, which caused a fire that burned three vehicles, according to CHP.

There was also no word on whether there were any injuries.
