Friends & family remember life of Barbara Sinatra at public funeral mass
Longtime Coachella Valley resident and philanthropist Barbara Sinatra was remembered by friends and family then laid to rest next to her husband Tuesday afternoon at a funeral mass in Palm Desert.
According to Father Lincoln at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the service included readings by Dick Van Dyke and Charlie Dreesen, and the eulogy was read by Carina Blakely Marx (Barbara’s granddaughter), actor Robert J. Wagner and actor John Thoreson.
The Prayers of the Faithful were read by Father Lincoln and the Eucharistic Ministers are Victor Chouinard and Mary Rich.
The fourth and final wife of entertainer Frank Sinatra died of natural causes at her Rancho Mirage home last Tuesday while surrounded by family and friends, according to family spokesman John E. Thoresen, director of the Barbara Sinatra Children’s Center Foundation.
Barbara was memorialized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 43775 Deep Canyon Road in Palm Desert at 2 p.m. during a funeral mass that was open to the public. Sacred Heart’s priest, Father Howard Lincoln also read Sinatra’s last rites. Following the service, Barbara was buried next to Frank Sinatra at Desert Memorial Park in Cathedral City.
