Storm cleanup underway in Palm Springs
Some people living in Palm Springs are still dealing with the aftermath of last weekend’s flash flood.
Saturday’s record breaking storm left quite the mess, mud and rocks piling on roads and even at the end of driveways.
Bob Perlman lives on Sunny Dunes in Palm Springs. Nearly a week after the storm he’s expecting to see cleared roads.
“No one has come by to clean up any of the gravel, any of the stones, it’s really deplorable. We pay high taxes and the city should come out and clean it up,” Perlman said.
Marcus Fuller, Palm Spring’s assistant city manager, said they’re prioritizing the busiest roads first, but they have a small team on the job.
“There’s about 4 or 5 people, so they have been working diligently a lot of over time since Saturday and through the whole week, that’s why getting to all these other local streets are taking some time,” Fuller said.
Drivers who believe their cars or tires have been damaged because of left over debris, might be able to get help from the city.
“We, from time to time, get claims submitted from people who drive over pot holes, so if someone believes there is damage to their car due to the debris in the road, I suggest they contact the city clerks office and file a claim,” Fuller said.
As for Perlman, he says he’s done his part, he’s just waiting for the city to do theirs.
Fuller encourages residents to call City Hall if their street needs to be cleaned up.
Officials don’t have a set date as to when all roads will be cleared but Fuller said crews are working a lot of overtime hours to get the job done.
