Longtime Valley television host, philanthropist Pattie Daly Caruso passes away
A family friend confirmed to News Channel 3/CBS Local 2 Pattie Daly Caruso, mother of Carson Daly, died peacefully in her Palm Desert home Sunday morning.
Daly Caruso was a prominent member of the Coachella Valley. The television personality hosted her popular show “Valley Views” for more than 25 years, the longest-running television show in the Coachella Valley. It covered local events, celebrities and people throughout the Coachella Valley and was broadcast on both cable and local network affiliates.
Daly Caruso was involved in several organizations in the desert, including Palm Springs Women in Film and Television. As a breast cancer survivor, she dedicated her time to raising money for cancer-related charities. Organizations she was involved with included the American Cancer Foundation, Eisenhower Medical Center Auxiliary and the Ronald McDonald House.
Daly Caruso was named “Television Woman of the Year” in 1997, “First Lady of the Desert” in 1998, “Desert Woman of the Year” in 2002 and was honored with the prestigious Athena Award in 2003. On Mother’s Day 2004 she appeared on The Letterman Show and was honored as one of Letterman’s “Top Ten Moms.” In 2009, Pattie received a Star on the Walk of Stars in downtown Palm Springs.
Daly Caruso married Jim Daly when she moved to California. They had two children, Carson and Quinn. After Jim’s death, Pattie married to Richard Caruso.
Daly Caruso’s immediate family released this statement following her death:
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, wife, grandmother, Pattie Daly Caruso. She passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 17th. Kiki, as she was known to her grandchildren and many others, touched so many lives with her kindness, her giant spirit, and her love of life. She will be terribly missed by her family and the world, but her spark will shine for eternity.”
A spokesperson for Kiner Communications said details of Daly Caruso’s memorial service/mass are pending. A detailed obituary will follow in a few days.
The Palm Springs Women in Film and Television issued this statement:
“It is with the deepest sadness that I tell you of the passing of our beloved Pattie Daly Caruso.
Patti was always a bright light. She has supported our efforts along with so many others in this valley for decades.
Her love of life, and especially for her beloved family, touched each of us. You did not have to know her well to see and feel this love.
Words alone cannot express our sadness. Our love is with her family.
Her light will forever be in our hearts!”
The Palm Springs Women in Film and TV will place flowers at Daly-Caruso’s star in the Palm Springs Walk of Stars at 10:15 a.m. Monday. The flowers were donated by Town Center Compounding Pharmacy and the Flower Bank.
