Woman dies after shooting in Desert Hot Springs

Update 10/27/17: The victim has been officially identified as Indio resident, Alycia Alexander.

A woman died after being shot in the head in Desert Hot Springs Thursday night. Police were called to a Palm Springs bank parking lot after a failed attempt to take her to the hospital.

Desert Hot Springs Police confirmed the death to News Channel 3 and said they are treating this as a homicide. The woman’s identity has not yet been released.

Desert Hot Springs Deputy Police Chief Jim Henson said the shooting occurred at the 10700 block of Cactus Drive by Wardman Park. The park is in the area of Cactus and 8th street where our crew saw a crime scene after the woman was found.

Deputy Chief Henson said investigators are still figuring out what led up to the shooting and have no suspects at this time.

A person tried to take her to the hospital, but sometime around 10:30 p.m. stopped in the parking lot of the Wells Fargo bank on the 5200 block of Ramon Rd near Gene Autry in Palm Springs and called the police.

Desert Hot Springs Police detectives were handling the investigation. Deputy Chief Henson asked anyone with any information on the shooting to contact Sgt. Lindsey at 760-329-6411 ex. 378.
