First Alert Weather Alert: New Year’s travel best before Saturday afternoon

A winter storm is rolling into Southern California on Saturday to kick off the New Year. Our weather team has issued a First Alert Weather Alert on both Saturday and Sunday as we continue tracking the showers headed our way.

If you're headed out of the Coachella Valley for the New Year's weekend, the best time to do it is all day Friday through Saturday afternoon. We have a chance of seeing rain throughout the day Saturday, but the heaviest showers are slated for Saturday night starting around 10 p.m. well into Sunday morning.

We are seeing comfortable temperatures as we wrap up the week with daily highs around 70 degrees throughout the midday hours.
