Cloudy with a slight chance for rain
Temperatures are expected to remain below average for this afternoon with highs reaching into the upper 50's.
An area of low pressure off the coast will keep temperatures cooler than normal today with chances for light rain. Most of the rain is expected to remain off the coast but there are chances for some sprinkles on the valley floor with snow chances for our surrounding mountains.
This model showing the rain and snow looks to overdue these chances. This shows the greatest time frame to see any rain developing around 1-3 p.m. Amounts will be light just as they are this morning near most of San Diego county where accumulations are not being picked up by radar indicated showers. However, some moisture will be passing through the region resulting in clouds, some light rain, and some snow in the mountains.
The Winter Storm Watch has been cancelled and what remains is a Winter Weather Advisory for San Bernardino mountains, including Big Bear. This will create driving hazards for those heading to that region. There will be some snow above an elevation of 3500 ft. with heavier snow above elevations of 4000 ft.
Near mountains and passes, winds are expected to be gusty today through tonight. Gusts reaching to 40 mph will be possible across wind prone areas with the valley floor seeing gusts near 20 mph at times.
A warming trend will move in beginning tomorrow as a ridge of high pressure builds behind this moving in area of low pressure. This means, we can expect warmer temperatures and drier conditions heading into New Years.
