New 4XFAR festival in Thermal shows promise for more years to come
THERMAL, Calif. -
In the heart of the Coachella Valley, a new music festival adventure took over this weekend. The “4XFar” festival was held at the Empire Grand Oasis.
“For the first year, I think the turnout is great,” Mindia Luo, a festival goer said.
“It’s really fun," Kate Bergin said. "This is one of the great festivals where the activities are as much fun as the music,” she added.
Just about any adventure, you can think of was featured at this new type of music festival at the Empire Grand Oasis in Thermal.
From live music to learning how to throw an axe, rock climbing, mountain bike riding, flyfishing and more.
“Today is my second day and my favorite activity is definitely ax throwing,” Luo said.
“I learned how to mountain bike over the waves,” Bergin shared.
Festival director, Michael Perez says the turnout was just what he expected.
“We had droves of people come for the first day," Perez said. "Today is our second to last day and MLK weekend is going to go out with a bang,” he added.
“Everyone is in such a good mood here and it has attracted the right type of people because everyone wants to talk to everyone," Lauren Russell, an influencer from Phoenix said. "I’ve met so many people," she added.
The festival called “4 X Far” is a playoff of four by four and believe me, there were plenty of Land Rovers to drive and admire.
“I’m really enjoying this event," 11-year-old, Gonzalo Quiroz said. "I love the 2020 Defender. I’ve been building it for two months on landrover.com and I’m really interested in it and maybe in five years when I can drive, maybe I can get one of these,” Quiroz added.
Overall, it seems like the first year of the “4 by Far” festival was a success.
“It’s a 10 out of 10," a festival-goer from New Jersey told News Channel 3.
“I hope they keep this event coming and then next year I hope to see more people here,” Luo said.
