Mild Labor Day to start a week of gradual warming

Happy Labor Day! Temperatures today in Palm Springs maxed out at 99°. The average daily high for this time of year is 106°F. Temperatures tonight are very mild as well. As of 9:30PM, temperatures valley-wide are in the 80s and will continue to drop into the 70s overnight.

An Air Quality Alert has been issued by the South Coast Air Quality Management District. This alert was issued for the risk of windblown dust. Windblown dust can greatly reduce both air quality and visibility. This alert is in place through Wednesday morning at 8AM.

The Air Quality Alert has been issued as a result of gusty winds here in the Coachella Valley. Wind gusts have picked up throughout the evening as expected. Gusty conditions are expected to continue overnight, with the strongest gusts occurring on along the I-10 corridor.

Temperatures remain mild for most of the work week. Although, we are in the midst of a gradual warming trend. Thanks to a ridge of high pressure building toward our southeast, daily highs will increase slightly with each day this week. Highs will peak this weekend with temperatures a few degrees above average.
