Saturday Palm Springs reached a high temperature of 78°. The normal for this time of year is 70°. There will be a few degrees of cooling today as a weak trough moves across the state. This trough will also bring a deep marine layer and areas of gusty westerly winds across parts of the desert and our local mountains.

These winds today will mostly be light on the valley floor. For mountains and passes, gusts will be closer to 30-40 mph. Overnight tonight and tomorrow, winds on the valley floor could see gusts near 25-30 mph.

Temperatures are expected to stick around above average for quite some time. Another weak ridge builds Monday through Tuesday before a weak trough dips back for Wednesday, cooling temperatures another few degrees. Then, temperatures warm well above average into the weekend. Santa Ana winds are expected to return, with dropping humidity, and temperatures 10° or more above the seasonal average.
