Families gather at Coachella Valley Cemetery for Dia de los Muertos
Families took part in the long-standing tradition of Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead at the Coachella Valley Cemetery on Thursday.
It was a very important day for many Hispanic families dedicated to remembering their loved ones who have passed on. While the day is called "Day of the Dead," many families in attendance said they were far from sad as it's also a day of celebration.
Families spent the entire day at the cemetery to connect with their loved ones, a way to help keep their memory alive.
"We talk about him, we talk about the past that we had, the jokes that he would say. About his children because he left me with three children. And stuff like that we share with him. And I would my children to continue doing this," one of the attendees said.
The tradition of the day says it lures souls back from the dead to the land of the living.
