Holiday travel tips and updates

The holiday travel rush out of the valley continues tonight as guests head home from their Thanksgiving visits. News Channel 3 drove around the Coachella Valley to learn from travelers their experiences navigating the streets and highways.

Interstate 10 going west has been packed since Saturday as people attempted to leave the valley. Tony Morales was fueling up at a Valley gas station after driving an hour and a half from Los Angeles to Palm Springs. Morales is on the way to Phoenix; he says going east on the 10 is smooth sailing, "Going west! I have seen a lot of traffic, says Morales". "A lot of red on the GPS. I don't know what the issue is. I didn't see any accidents, or I don't know what's causing the delay."

We went to the Palm Springs International Airport, and people had mixed feelings based on their experiences. One flying traveler says his Palm Springs to Chicago flight was delayed until 9:30 p.m. Sunday. He says he cannot go to work Monday since he will get home close to 4 a.m.

Other flying travelers we spoke with say they had an easy drive from Borrego Springs to Palm Springs on Sunday morning, and their flight to Portland is on schedule.

Tips from travelers driving or flying with children.

1. Bring something new

Like a coloring book or a new toy.

2. Load up your travel bag with various snacks your child loves.

3. Bring a good attitude -- one parent says it's just another adventure.
