College of the Desert to hold ribbon cutting for new campus-to-campus shuttle service
College of the Desert is celebrating the launch of a new, free campus-to-campus shuttle service.
Thursday morning, COD will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the launch of the Roadrunner Express, a free shuttle service that will provide students with transportation between College of the Desert campuses.
The college welcomes community members to attend the event and learn more about the steps that the College of the Desert is taking to break down educational barriers for its students. The ceremony will take place at the roundabout in front of the Cravens Student Services Center in the Palm Desert campus on Thursday at 8:30 a.m.
"Many students don't have their own vehicle," stated Superintendent/President, Laura Hope. "They can get a ride to campus, but traveling to other campuses can be difficult. This is another way we are driving home our slogan 'Your Community, Your College.' We want students to feel at home at COD and to feel that they have access to the tools they need to succeed."
Each week from Monday through Thursday, the Roadrunner Express will complete three roundtrips per route, starting at the Palm Desert Campus at 7:45 a.m. (excluding holidays).
