Tour de Palm Springs kicks off, annual cycling event to benefit local charities
Palm Springs is gearing up for the Tour de Palm Springs, the annual bike tour that brings between 6,000 and 9,000 cyclists and walkers to the Coachella Valley.
More than 2,000 volunteers are involved and help raise money for 75 local non-profit organizations over the course of the event, which features local vendors, music, raffles and other family-friendly activities.
Registration begins Friday February 7, 2020 and the main tour takes place on Saturday February 8. The full schedule can be found here.
The registration tent is located on W. Andreas Road off Palm Canyon. Riders have the option of a 10, 25, 50 or 100 mile route -- starting and finishing on South Palm Canyon. And this year, for the first time people can take part in a one-three mile walk.
Drivers are urged to be alert and share the road with cyclists participating Saturday.
