Nonprofit Arts Programs Drive Economic Growth in the Coachella Valley
Palm Springs is known for its arts scene.
There are theaters, museums, galleries, and live music venues that attract creative minds and art enthusiasts.
A recent study conducted by the California Desert Arts Council, in collaboration with research from Americans for the Arts, reveals that nonprofit arts programs are not only appreciated in the Coachella Valley, but they also contribute to our economy.
"It supports jobs, generates government revenue, and drives tourism," stated Randy Cohen, vice president of research at Americans for the Arts. "The research demonstrates that investing in the arts isn't merely an optional expense; it's an industry that fuels tourism and enhances quality of life."
Locally, arts programs in the desert generate $110.9 million annually and employ 1,623 community members.
They also contribute $19.5 million in tax revenues for local, state, and federal governments.
The California Desert Arts Council aims to use this study to inspire more artists to pursue their passion in the Coachella Valley.
