Man found guilty of attempted murder after setting two Yucca Valley people on fire

A 32-year-old man was found guilty of attempted murder after setting two Yucca Valley residents on fire last summer.

On Wednesday, a jury found Joshua Kaiser of Johnson Valley guilty on all charges, which included, two counts of Willful, Deliberate, Premeditated Attempted Murder, two counts of Arson Causing Great Bodily Injury, and one count of Domestic Violence. He was also found guilty of all special allegations, including Personal Infliction of Great Bodily Injury and Personal Use of a Deadly or Dangerous Weapon.

The incident happened on June 19, 2023. Deputies were called to the Hi Desert Medical Center regarding two burn victims. Deputies spoke with the female victim, who suffered severe burns. The female victim said a man had lit her and the male victim on fire.

The male victim suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for more advanced treatment.

Both victims have since been released from the hospital and continue to recover, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Dept.

Detectives from the Morongo Basin Station and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Arson/Bomb Detail responded to the 52000 block of Cholla Road, in Johnson Valley, where the alleged crime took place.

Detectives served a search warrant at the location and located additional evidence.

During the investigation, detectives Kaiser as the suspect. He was arrested on July 5, 2023.
