Trump signs order seeking to ban transgender athletes from women’s sports
President Donald Trump has signed an executive order on Wednesday that seeks to ban transgender athletes from participating in women's sports.
Supporters of the ban argue it's an unfair advantage and poses a danger to women and girl athletes.
Opponents of the ban say that disinformation is exaggerating the scope of the issue of transgender athletes in girls' sports, that trans athletes make up a tiny minority of all athletes, and that there is a wide variation in athletic ability across both boys and girls.
“We are the trans community, is kind of just being used as rage bait. We’re being pushed out there in front of everybody like ‘look at this thing you need to be afraid us.”

President Trump says federal funding could be cut for those who fail to adhere.
What does this mean for schools and programs here in the Valley?
“No, the executive order is actually in contradiction of state law and education codes… but fundamentally, we want to ensure that all students are provided equality and access to the educational environment including through sports.”

COD Athletics and the Southern CIF Section say they're also standing by state law.
Trump has already signed three others that directly target transgender people. On Inauguration Day, he signed an order proclaiming that the government will recognize only two sexes, male and female. He also signed orders barring transgender people from serving openly in the military and restricting access to gender-affirming care for trans people younger than 19 nationwide.
