Perfect MLK Day Weather, Cooling Trend Briefly Arrives Late Week

Fantastic weather on this extended 3-day weekend, including today--MLK Jr Day with highs around the valley reaching upper 70s and some low 80s. This evening looks mostly clear and fairly mild across the Coachella Valley, with above-average high and low temperatures.

Highs stay warmer than normal, through mid-week, though temperatures will gradually begin dipping as weak offshore flow transitions to more onshore influence. A cooling trend becomes more noticeable late week as a low pressure system moves in, dropping daytime highs closer to near normal. This low pressure brings a chance for low clouds, fog, and a thicker marine layer along the coast and west of the mountains. That system also brings a very small, 10-20% chance of showers late week--but most of this activity, if any, should stay in the mountains and primarily west of the valley.

By the weekend and into next week, we look drier with another warming trend to upper 70s and low 80s under rebuilding high pressure. We'll likely be pushing near 80 degrees again by Thursday of next week.
