Tracking above average temperatures, more clouds on the way
It's another unusually warm day here in the Coachella Valley as highs climb to the mid-upper 80s. This is far above the average high for this time of year, which would have us in the low 70s. Due tothe placement of the pressure systems nearby, we are under an offshore wind setup. These winds are fairly weak here on the valley floor, but they are stronger out toward our west, where a Wind Advisory remains in effect through noon tomorrow. The San Gorgonio Pass and Desert Hot Springs are included in these advisories.

As we look ahead to Friday, the overall blocking pattern, called a Rex Block, will begin to break down. This is because a large wave of low pressure will move into the region. The movement of these systems will lead to an increase in cloud cover (and cooler temperatures) for Thursday. By Friday, there is a very small chance of a few raindrops here in the Coachella Valley. The mountains and other communities to the west have a better chance of seeing precipitation, but the system doesn't have that much moisture associated with it.

Expect cooler, but still above-average temperatures for the remainder of the week and the beginning of the weekend. Temperatures will warm again by Sunday, before cloudier skies move in for Monday. By Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, another area of low pressure is expected to move through the region, bringing another chance for precipitation.
