Twentynine Palms man arrested after high-speed chase
Deputies from the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s station arrested a man and a woman following a high-speed car chase on Sunday afternoon. At approximately 1:30 p.m., deputies attempted to stop a car exiting Tortoise Rock Casino due to an expired registration.
The driver, Kout Huot, 39, picked up speed in an attempt to evade the authorities and a high-speed chase ensued. Huot lost control of the vehicle and it rolled over approximately two miles from the casino near the intersection of Baseline Road and Desert Knoll Ave. Huot, and the passenger of the vehicle, Cori Aragon, 31, then fled the scene on foot. They were both taken into custody after a brief pursuit.
Aragon and Huot, both residents of Twentynine Palms, were revealed to have outstanding warrants for their arrests after a record check. Huot was arrested for Felony evading and his outstanding warrants. Aragon was arrested for Resisting, Obstructing, Delaying a Peace Officer and her outstanding warrants.
They were both booked into the Morongo Basin Jail
