Continued Cooling Before Potentially Wet Halloween Weekend

The Coachella Valley is heading into a cooler, cloudier, and potentially wet Halloween weekend as a series of low pressure systems move toward Southern California.

Highs will remain in the lower 80s through Friday before dropping into the 70s this weekend, which is about 10 degrees below our seasonal average.

We could see a few light showers develop along the coast as early as Friday, our best chance for more widespread rainfall arrives late Saturday into Sunday morning, with showers tapering off Sunday night. There's still quite a bit of uncertainty regarding the track of this developing system--which will determine how much rain we receive--some models are suggesting a wetter scenario than others. The mountains and areas west of the valley will see the heaviest rainfall, although the deserts could still pick up some measurable rain.

Drier weather returns Monday as high pressure builds back into the region, bringing a gradual warming trend through the middle of next week, although temperatures will remain slightly below average.

Don't forget to "fall back" one hour this weekend! Daylight Saving Time ends at 2am Sunday, November 1st. This will give us an extra hour of sleep, but in exchange for less and less daylight.
