Three people injured by Cathedral City business crash
At 12:00 p,m., Cathedral City police officers responded to reports of patrons injured during a vehicle collision on the 35900 block of Date Palm Drive. When the officers arrived on the scene, they found a red Tesla crashed into the front of a business, with two patrons. The driver also sustained minor injuries but was treated at the scene.

One injured patron was seated inside the business and the other was on the patio according to a Cathedral City police news release. Both were transported to Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage.

The accident occurred after the driver mistakenly stepped on the accelerator of the Tesla while parking, sending the car over the curb, across the patio, and finally to a halt after crashing through the business’ front window.

An investigation into the crash is underway, but alcohol did not appear to be a factor, according to Luna.
This is the third car to crash into a building this year. Two weeks ago a car drove into a Baskin and Robbins in Indio, a store clerk ended up pinned to a counter and was taken to the hospital for minor bruising.
This past Tuesday, a car went into the front of Giselle’s Boutique Thrift Store in Palm Desert, one person suffered serious injuries.
