Authorities identify Valentine’s Day shooting victim
The Riverside County Coroner’s Office has released the identity of the man shot and killed last week in Desert Hot Springs.
Joseph Slaten, 49, of Desert Hot Springs was found dead inside a vehicle following a shooting on the 12500 block of Avenida Alta Loma on Valentine’s Day.
A woman in the vehicle was also shot and was recovering in a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

No arrests have been made in the shooting, police are investigating the shooting as a homicide.
