Bye, Bye to Our Hot & Humid August

The Coachella Valley is about to get a much-needed break from the heat and humidity as we head into September, with highs running about 2-7 degrees below our seasonal normal.

Temps will continue to trend cooler through most of the week as dew points drop and drier air settles in. We are looking at a few winds picking up in the afternoon and evening. Expecting breezy west to southwest winds through midweek--especially near the Banning Pass, with gusts around 25–35 mph.

Below-average temperatures and relatively dry conditions should stick around through the end of the workweek.

Looking ahead to Labor Day weekend, we're tracking a developing tropical disturbance well south of Mexico that could eventually send some tropical moisture our way as early as Saturday evening, but there's still a LOT of uncertainty with its development and track. Right now, the odds of significant impacts are very low—but we'll be watching forecast models closely over the next few days.
