Tracking temperatures closer to seasonal for the week ahead

Saturday, Palm Springs reached a high temperature of 105°. The average temperature for this time of year is 92°. That makes six days in a row of triple digit temperatures in Palm Springs. The longest stretch for the year has been nine.

Idyllwild also broke its highest minimum temperature on Saturday. Previously the record was 50° from 2018, now the new record is 51°.

We will continue to see above average temperatures lingering around 100° today as we remain over a ridge of high pressure. This ridge is pushing east, behind it being replaced by a trough of low pressure. This trough will bring cooler temperatures, gusty west winds for the mountains and deserts, and marine layer along the coast.

Gusty westerly winds are expected Monday and Tuesday with gusts reaching up to 50 mph, especially for more wind prone locations. Temperatures will cool into the 80s Tuesday and Wednesday before a weak ridging moves in aloft after mid-week to warm temperatures back into the 90s.
