Cooling down with some gusty winds moving in

On Saturday, Palm Springs reached a high temperature of 99°. The average for this time in May is 94°. Temperatures will remain a few degrees above average this afternoon. A region of high pressure over the region is moving E and a trough of low pressure farther north is pushing ESE.

This trough is keeping below normal temperatures over Northern California. As this trough pushes ESE it will bring a slight chance for some light rain areas west. The time frame for areas near the coast and west of the mountains, even some light rain for the mountains, will be Sunday night into Monday morning with a stronger chance Monday night into Tuesday morning. Otherwise, the mountains and deserts are looking towards some gusty westerly to northwesterly winds.

Breezy winds will begin Sunday evening and are expected to last through Tuesday. Peak gusts for more wind prone areas reaching 50-60 mph by Monday. A Wind Advisory has been issued beginning Monday at 2 p.m. and lasting through 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Winds will be westerly 20-30 mph with isolated gusts reaching to 60 mph. Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects, tree limbs could be blown down, and a few power outages are possible. Visibility could also be reduced due to blowing sand and dust. Winds will diminish Tuesday morning but will still remain gusty through Tuesday evening.

With this area of low pressure temperatures will drop well below average. Monday and Tuesday seeing temperatures in the 80s, lower 80s Tuesday! there will be a mild warm-up back near seasonal temperatures for the remainder of the week.
