Big rig carrying 80 thousand pounds of tomatoes overturns on Interstate 10 in Rancho Mirage

Emergency crews are on scene of big rig rollover on Interstate 10 westbound west of Bob Hope Drive.

The accident was reported Saturday afternoon at 2:34.

The big rig driver suffered a head injury and was taken to an area hospital.

At one point, the number 3 and 4 westbound lanes were blocked, leading to a traffic backup.

We're told the truck was carrying 80,000 pounds of tomatoes.

At least one other vehicle was involved in the accident.
