Road reopens in Coachella following deadly hit-and-run collision
UPDATE: As of 5 a.m. Friday morning, Grapefruit Boulevard was reopened to traffic after being shut down for several hours.
Grapefruit Boulevard was closed to traffic in both directions early Friday morning following a deadly hit-and-run collision. The closure extended from Leoco Lane to Cesar Chavez Street.
An unidentified woman died in the roadway after being hit by a vehicle just before midnight Thursday, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
What caused the collision was not immediately known, and it was not clear if alcohol was a factor, authorities said.
There was also no word on any arrests.
