San Bernardino blood bank nearly depleted

Lifestream has nearly run dry. The nonprofit based in San Bernardino is reaching out to the public to help restore its supply of blood, which now down to a “one-day supply,” according to a Lifestream news release.

“LifeStream is appealing to local residents to give blood as local supplies are down to a single day,” reads the news release. “Most needed at this time are blood types O positive and O negative; however, all blood donations are needed and welcomed.”

Lifestream has been serving the region since 1951 when it was founded as the Blood Bank of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. The nonprofit changed its name in 2008 to “better reflect the breadth of services offered and its expanding geographical service area,” according to the organization’s website.

“Through Saturday, March 10, LifeStream is offering O-negative and O-positive donors who give blood at a center or mobile drive a ‘bonus’ of $15 worth of Gift of Life Donor Loyalty points for use to ‘purchase’ items in the online donor store,” reads the release.

Appointments can be made over the phone at 800-879-4484 and walk-ins are also welcomed. Full details on all five of Livestream’s donation center can be found here.
