Woman arrested for arson for Palm Desert hotel fire

A fire at the Embassy Suites in Palm Desert yesterday has been ruled an arson and a female suspect has been arrested, according to Cal Fire. Her identity has not been released at this time.

Cal Fire Law Enforcement officers arrested the suspect with the assistance of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. She was booked into the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on suspicion of arson. The suspect’s arraignment is set for April 6.

The fire was reported at 3:30 p.m. yesterday and contained just after 3:45 p.m. According to Cal Fire firefighters arrived on the scene and initially didn’t notice any signs of flames from the exterior.

The hotel was evacuated shortly after the fire was reported. No injuries were reported.
