Student Athlete of the Week – Hailey Murdica

Hello and goodbye. Hailey Murdica making sure there is no tie and the way she does her cross word puzzles doesn’t lie.

“I do puzzles all the time. When my down time is, it has to be no more than 1,000 pieces else it would be boring to me.” Student athlete of the week Hailey Murdica said.

The fastest girl to ever run track for the Palm Desert Aztecs.

“She just is a crazy fierce competitor. Wants to win at whatever she does, good at what she does. When you tie that in with hard work and dedication, passion for the sport, and the obvious talent she has you’re going to get something special.” Sprinting coach Cameron Dunphy said.

She has been something special. Putting record banners on reorder since her sophomore year. She hits milestones that she lives for including going under 12-seconds in the 100-meter dash.

“I have literally been dreaming to see that 11 on the board for so long now. Seeing it there almost made me kind of tear up cause it was my dream.” Murdica said with a smile.

The DVL wasn’t the only one put on notice. Her performance caught the attention of Cal-State Fullerton.

“November 7th, 2017 I signed and it was the best day of my life so far. Tusks up.” Murdica remembered.

She is setting up her future to help others battle not only just on the track.

“Knowing how injury prone I am, physical therapy has been a huge part of my life. Helped me come back to playing the sport I love so I just want to do the same for other athletes as well.” Murdica added.

With a final message to keep seeing records broken for years to come.

“Have to keep working hard. It’s been a hard journey for me. There has been some hard times. I kept trying to truck through and I know sometimes people don’t get the times they want but when it does happen I tell them you can get there and to keep working.”
