U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security examines progress on Calexico border wall construction
U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security toured a new portion of the Calexico border wall today.
Construction on the new portion began in February. The project involves the replacement of a 2.25-mile section of the current wall with a new 30-foot bollard style barrier. The original wall was erected in the 1990s using recycled scraps of metal and landing mat.

U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen visited Border Patrol headquarters to speak to border patrol agents before going ahead and examining the progress of the wall.
