Winter storm takes over Tuesday night through Friday

Rain and mountain snow through Thanksgiving

The low temperature today in Palm Springs was 54° with a high temperature of 78°. This will be the warmest day of the week. Temperatures will cool down Monday and take a dive Tuesday through Friday.

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service Tuesday night through Friday. With unusually cold air in store, the mountains will see significant snowfall with rainfall still expected along the valley floor. Travel during this time period will be near difficult to impossible. The brunt of the storm will move in Wednesday through Thursday night.

Areas include The San Bernardino County mountains, Riverside County mountains including the Santa Anas, and the San Diego County mountains.

Deserts 0.5-1 inch
Coast/Valley 1.5-3 inches

Snowfall:
5000 ft. and above 1-3 feet
4500-5000 ft. 6-12 inches
4000-5000 feet 3-6 inches
3000-4000 feet 1-3 inches

Monday through Tuesday will also see areas of gusty westerly winds. Winds will shift from offshore to onshore, cooling down temperatures and increasing wind speeds. Winds will be 20-30 mph with gusts reaching 50 mph and above ahead of the passage of a cold front.

Temperatures will decrease significantly Thursday and Friday with high temperatures in the 50's. Before then, Tuesday and Wednesday will be in the 60's with one more day in the 70's for Monday.
