Man killed in Palm Springs crash identified
A man killed in a Thursday night single-vehicle crash on Gene Autry Trail in Palm Springs has been identified.
22-year-old Jesus Escalera died in the crash which left his passenger with moderate injuries.
Palm Springs Police responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision at 7:26 p.m. and found an overturned vehicle on scene. Escalera was pronounced dead on scene. The passenger was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
It is unknown at this time what caused the collision. It is unclear at this time if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the collision.
PSPD said the vehicle was driving southbound on Gene Autry when it crossed over the median for unknown reasons and rolled over, crashing into the northbound sidewalk and a tree.
Officers confirmed a male driver is dead and a male passenger has been hospitalized with moderate injuries.
PSPD closed Gene Autry northbound from Tamarisk to Tachevah for a period of time. The road reopened at around 2 a.m. Friday morning.
