Palm Springs roads reopen after extended fire-related closure

South Sunrise Way between Baristo and Ramon Road has reopened following an extended closure relating to a Palm Springs apartment complex fire.

The fire-related closure lasted approximately four and a half hours.

The fire was reported around 11:00 a.m. PSPD and PSFD responded to the scene.

Responding officers saw smoke coming from the third story of the Modern Cactus apartments upon arrival. Firefighters and officers entered the building and were able to assist residents inside the building with the evacuation. Some residents and PSPD officers suffered minor smoke-inhalation-related injuries.

The cause of the fire unknown at this time and is currently under investigation.

South Sunrise Way between Baristo and Ramon Road will remain closed for the next several hours due to the closure.
